Treatment Approaches

I specialize in helping adolescents (12+), adults and couples with depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma, substance use, addictions, eating disorders, bereavement, and life transitions/adjustments.

Treatment-wise, I’m an interdisciplinarian that believes no one singular approach is a one-size-fits-all.   Customizing treatment to an individual’s needs using many approaches is far more effective.  I am hugely client focused and will always offer unconditional positive regard, acceptance, cultural humility, and respect.  I take pride in being passionate with compassion, empathic, and having a good set of ears.  Important to our work is developing a trusting, therapeutic relationship, using clinically supported, evidence-based strategies, leveraging personal strengths, and staying dedicated.

My personal integrative approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Theory for couples.  My priority is to have you fully supported with every step we take together.

Education and Training

I have completed my CACREP-Accredited Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Southern New Hampshire University with a perfect 4.0 GPA.   Currently, I am working toward completing the required hours for licensure in Texas.

During my coursework, I have completed training in psychotherapy, advanced psychopathology, human development, substance use and process disorders, trauma and crisis, group counseling, family therapy, children and adolescence, couples therapy, emotional and mood disorders, neurobiology/psychopharmacology, and career counseling.

Here is my educational background:

Background and Experience

For the last 20 years, my professional career was in healthcare working with doctors and medical staff for several Biotech companies including Johnson & Johnson and Applied Medical in clinical education and management.  Additionally, as an ex-football player, I have been a youth football coach with Allen Sports Association for the past 6 years coaching, teaching, and mentoring kids from K-8 grades.

Years ago, I worked in many supportive roles on and off campus during my college years to help fellow students dealing with various challenges such as adjustment issues, student-life engagement, mentorship, finding resources, and academic achievement support.  I additionally worked as a graduate student teaching assistant for several undergraduate courses in the human science department.

Personal Statement

People, along with their individual life experiences, are entirely unique, complex, and amazing.  We all have learned invaluable lessons from life and interactions with others, summoned inner strength, found resilience, motivation, and creativity.  Yet, we have all been vulnerable, battled insecurities, endured struggles, experienced personal crisis, life transitions, and have made mistakes.  That is being human.  And as humans, we are social creatures that do not have to do everything alone.  I could make for a great teammate to be in your corner of life whenever you are ready to start.  Let’s be stronger together!

About Me

I have been married for nearly 19 years to my wife and we have two school-age boys, and two toddler English bulldogs.  When I am not studying, reading, or working, I am coaching football, at the gym, playing boardgames with my family, or taking on DIY projects.  We also value travel and experiencing a world of cultures.  Yet, no matter where I am, getting to know people has always been my truest passion, and it will be my absolute pleasure to get to know you.
