Counseling Approach
Cynthia seeks to use a holistic approach in her counseling and believes growth occurs when a person feels seen, valued, and heard. She believes in guiding clients through activities and exercises that work on behaviors, responses, and thought processes that support health and healing.  This could look like mindfulness, play based therapy techniques, self-reflection, visual aids, journaling, music, and art based therapy techniques.

Education and Training
Cynthia earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Texas at Dallas. She earned her master’s in counseling through Texas Tech University. Cynthia is trained in Mental Health First Aid for Adolescents, NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance) Crisis Response Training, Trauma Informed Care through the Texas School Safety Center, and is a 5 time grant recipient for Social Emotional Learning Education in Action grants through 2 large, local school districts.

Background and Experience
The last 11 years Cynthia has spent working in a public school setting in education as a teacher and as a school counselor as well as volunteering in her church in the children’s ministry for the last 14 years. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults that are experiencing ADHD symptoms, emotional outbursts, anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties at school and home, grief, family, parent/child, break ups, and relationship issues, life transitions, self-harm, and negative thinking patterns.

Personal Statement
Every human deserves empathy, compassion, and connection. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond, heal, and grow. Sometimes this happens by simply sharing your story in a safe space and other times it takes work. I love hearing people’s stories and seeing them learn how to work through conflict, navigate relationships in healthy ways, and emotionally regulate themselves when things get difficult. Together, we will work towards healing, building resilience, and fostering positive change. I am grateful for the opportunity to support you on your path. Please feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation.
