Going through a divorce is painful enough without putting your kids in a tug of war as you battle for their affection and your financial stability. We can help!! Using methods from mediation, collaborative law, and co-parenting coordination trainings we can save you grief, time and money by helping you as individuals learn emotional control, empowering you to develop a co-parenting plan, and finally, serving as mediators when you just can’t work it out yourselves. Custody evaluations and battles drain college and retirement funds and cause emotional scars that kids feel long after the legalities are final.
Many instances occur where visitation has never occurred or ceased and you are court ordered to begin the reunification process through therapeutic visitation. Michelle has worked with numerous families in situations such as these. The process begins by an evaluation and then is generally followed by sessions structured with a quick private check in with the child(ren), then Michelle leads any needed therapeutic discussions, a therapy activity involving both the child and parent then occurs followed with a few minutes of pure supervised visitation. Michelle encourages honest appropriate communication between parent and child and offers parent coaching when needed.
Sometimes the divorce has been final for months or years but sharing custody comes with its challenges and you may just need some additional support to help you through a rough time or specific issues.
Michelle will work with both you and both of your attorneys if necessary to help you solve your issues regarding your children including joint meetings. Michelle has completed the 24 hours required by the state to develop parenting plans which are required by the court for couples filing for divorce who have minor children. She also is trained to serve as a mental health neutral or communication coach in the collaborative law process. She has also completed mediation training with PaxUnited. A believer in community networking, Michelle also can recommend vast resources such as online classes and workbooks to help you and child(ren) transition without unnecessary emotional pain.
