Treatment Approaches
Beth enjoys helping others navigate the stresses of life on the path to emotional well-being. She has worked with adolescents, women, couples, and families. She has experience dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, blended families, divorce, parental issues, behavioral struggles, infidelity issues, emotional/mental abuse/trauma, communication skills, coping strategies, and relationship difficulties. Beth operates mostly from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy approach.
The relationship between counselor and client has a tremendous impact on progress made. Therefore, Beth listens empathically and without judgement to validate client emotions while still appropriately challenging negative thought or behavior patterns to enact real, positive change for clients.
Education and Training
Beth has always had a heart for others, earning a Bachelor's in Social Work from The University of North Texas. After working as a Juvenile Probation Officer for four years, she got her teaching certification from The University of Texas at Arlington and taught high school in East Dallas. When her oldest daughter was born, she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. During her tenure working at home, she earned her Master's in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington and ran her own business. After twenty years of rearing kids, Beth decided it was time to get back to her goal of professionally helping others gain emotional and psychological health. She graduated from Liberty University in 2020 with her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling.
Background and Experience
Beth has worked at Child Protective Services in the Placement Unit, Bryan's House serving the underprivileged families of children with HIV, Help Our People Emerge (H.O.P.E.) providing for the basic needs of homeless adolescents, and as the Children's Director at a church. She has served in the youth and children's departments at church, and worked her way through college as a preschool teacher. Beth clearly has a heart for others.
Beth has experience working with couples who are suffering from the pain of infidelity, working to overcome trauma, or just struggling to reconnect and enjoy each other again. Experience has shown her that the Gottman Method is exceptionally effective at putting marriages back on the right track.
Personal Statement
I love working with horses and would, someday, enjoy incorporating equine therapy into my practice. I am an avid reader of mysteries and enjoy working on/ remodeling my home. I truly appreciate the satisfaction of completing a project and knowing I made it happen.
I am married to a man who also has a heart for others and is pursuing a career in counseling, as well. We enjoy working on our 1940's ranch house together. We have four amazing children and two sons-in-law. Our oldest three are mostly on their own now pursuing their individual dreams and our youngest is a freshman in college. I thrive on developing connections with others, deeply desiring to touch lives in a positive way. It blesses me greatly to offer a compliment or smile to others (even strangers) and watch their faces react with surprise and joy. My girls tease me that I've never actually met a stranger, just friends I haven't made yet. My faith is paramount in my life and my goal is to love others as Christ has loved me, no matter their background or situation.
