I supervise Practicum Students and Associates as a part of my practice because I love working with people who are starting out fresh in the profession.
License Status: LPC Active since 2009; Site Supervisor since 2019, Licensed Supervisor since 6/13/2022
Supervisory Training Received: PracticeMentors.us, Kathleen Mills & Philip Crum.
Availability: Currently interviewing bright, happy, self-actualized team-oriented future Practicum Students and Associates.
Are We a Good Fit?
I believe that being "equally-yoked" is critically important in the Supervisor-Associate relationship. I want to be a hands-on mentor to a person who understands that nothing worth having comes easily and it's necessary to start at the bottom in order to get to the top. I am not looking for someone who owns their own counseling business, or who cannot work autonomously. If you have been hospitalized for mental health issues within the last 5 years, we will not be a fit. One of my passions is working with adults who are called to the counseling field as a second or third career, and have already spent time in a professional environment.
Christian / Faith-Based Counseling is always available by request.
Speaking Engagements
Amy would be delighted to be guest speaker/presenter for your group. She has presented at churches, school districts, conferences, and private gatherings on numerous occasions. She has been a frequent speaker for Allen Gifted, AISD, SAGE, and the UMC. Speaking fees are $200 per hour of presentation. Topics include but are not limited to - domestic violence, giftedness, anxiety & depression, grief during the holidays, and keeping kids safe with today's technology.
If asked to present on a subject which requires extensive prep time, additional fees may apply.
Personal Statement & Information
We all know that self-doubt and negative self-talk are our biggest enemies, but there is always hope! In any situation, you can work to become a stronger person and decide to move forward towards a more positive self-image, healing, wholeness, and healthier relationships. When you are ready to make that important step to see a counselor, it will be an honor to listen to you and work together on the issues and stressors you are facing in your life.
When not in the therapy office, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and close friends. She previously worked for 8 years as an IT recruiter for software engineers in a boutique recruiting firm in Addison, TX. She has a wonderful son attending Fordham University in NYC, a loving husband who is a principal software engineer, a rescued American Brittany, and an amazing mother who is retired and lives locally. Amy has always been active in the United Methodist Church. She has been a lay-member of various committees on both a local church and conference-wide level. She served for 2 quadrennium on the District Committee on Ministry (DCOM) for the North Texas Conference in the North Central District. Her father retired from the UMC after serving over 52 years as an Elder in the North Texas Conference. When not delving into psychology, Amy's hobbies include classical singing with the Allen Symphony Chorus where she is Vice President, cooking with her son, music, reading mystery novels, movies, Brittany Rescue in Texas (BRIT), and traveling.
