Counseling Approach
Tara enjoys working with adolescents, adults and couples, as they navigate anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, life transitions, and other personal struggles. She recognizes that every individual and family has a unique story, and she tailors her therapeutic approach to meet each client's specific needs and goals.
Drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and other integrative approaches, Tara works collaboratively with clients to foster lasting growth and meaningful change. Her goal is to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. Through empathy, encouragement, and practical tools, she helps individuals and families build resilience, strengthen relationships, and move toward healing.
Education and Training
Tara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Art from Abilene Christian University and both a Master of Education in School Counseling and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from West Texas A&M University. She is also a Certified Love and Logic Facilitator, equipping parents with practical strategies for raising responsible, confident, and resilient children.
Background and Experience
With several years of experience as an educator, Tara has worked with children and adolescents across preschool, elementary, and high school settings in public schools. These experiences provided a strong foundation for understanding child development, family dynamics, and the unique challenges students and parents face throughout different stages of life.
Her passion for counseling grew through years of walking alongside children, teens, and families during both everyday challenges and significant life transitions. She developed a deep appreciation for meaningful conversations, helping others process difficult emotions, navigate conflict, strengthen relationships, and discover healthier ways of thinking and relating to themselves and others.
In addition to her professional work, Tara serves as a volunteer in the children's ministry at her local church, where she continues investing in the lives of children and families within her community. Tara and her husband are raising three daughters. Outside of the counseling office, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, tackling home improvement projects, and, of course, a good cup of coffee.
Personal Statement
I believe every person is created with inherent worth, purpose, and the capacity for growth. Each of us has a unique story, and sometimes life's experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the path ahead. During those seasons, having someone who will walk beside you with compassion, understanding, and without judgment can make all the difference.
My desire is to provide a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing your story at your own pace. Whether you're navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, parenting, grief, or a major life transition, I will meet you where you are and work alongside you to help you gain clarity, develop practical tools, and move toward healing.
It is truly a privilege to accompany people on their journey toward greater emotional health, stronger relationships, and a deeper understanding of themselves. I believe meaningful change is possible, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you take the next steps toward the life you hope to build.
