Treatment Approaches
Sierra strongly believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship. Feeling heard, validated, and supported through life’s difficulties creates a space for healing. Her approach is to view each individual holistically, taking into account family history, background, personality, and goals. For these reasons, Sierra identifies most strongly with ideas found in Rogerian and Adlerian theories, which focus on building trust and openness, while also utilizing the structure of behavioral therapies in order to maximize a person’s strengths: CBT/DBT, solution-focused, person-centered and strength-based therapy.
Sierra loves creative expression through art and music, journaling, and play therapy and sandtray. She is also passionate about incorporating faith-based counseling (upon request) through prayer, scripture, and conversation. Her areas of focus include adjustment to change, family challenges, overcoming fears, trauma recovery, behavioral problems at home or school, anger, socialization, anxiety/depression, self-esteem, and/or relationship struggles.
Sierra counsels children (kindergarten & up), teens, and young adults through these various approaches.
She is currently working towards her 3000 internship hours under the supervision of Michelle Nietert, M.A., LPC-S.

About Me
I live in McKinney with my husband and our miniature Australian Shepard, Leo. We are actively involved in our church community, enjoy spending time with friends and family, and love to travel. In my free time I like to be outdoors, read, paint, have game nights, watch movies, and eat good food.
Personal Statement
Life can wear us down with its challenges, but it’s up to us to own those challenges and decide who will become because of them. My goal to come alongside others, building them up to a place where they no longer feel controlled by their circumstances, find freedom, and move forward in a positive direction. I believe we all have the potential to be the person we want to be, and it simply takes a series of choices to get there.
