Counseling approach
Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern who provides services to children, adolescents, families, adults and couples. Sarah enjoys working with adolescents regarding self worth and anxiety. Sarah loves working with women struggling with life transitions, difficult marriages (including partner betrayal, pornography addiction, and affairs utilizing workshop trainings from Dr. Sheri Keffer author of Intimate Deception and Dr. Mark Lasser), depression and anxiety. Moms struggling with post partum depression and anxiety. Sarah works with couples and is trained in the How We Love Approach, SYMBIS premarital assessment, PREPARE/ENRICH couples assessment, and Gottman's 7 Principles of Making Marriage Work. Sarah's counseling approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (she has completed Beck's CBT training), Solution Focused Therapy and Play and Activity Therapy Techniques. She also incorporates art in the counseling office when working with children. She is also able to bring Biblical Counseling into the therapy process upon request.
Background and Experience
Sarah has a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Baylor University. She holds a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern license in Texas and is fully licensed as Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. She has several years counseling experience working with children, adults, couples and families in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health and private practice.
Personal Statement
It is my desire to walk alongside others as they face life’s challenges and be a source of encouragement towards health and growth. I consider it a privilege to partner with my clients as they explore strengths, solutions and opportunities towards growth. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children, serving in our local church, gardening, reading and a variety of outdoor activities.
