Counseling Approach
Marilyn seeks to create a person-centered approach to therapy where clients feel an environment of unconditional positive regard and atmosphere of acceptance. Marilyn wants people to feel like when they visit her, they are in a safe space to express themselves. As clients feel safe to express themselves then she likes to take a more eclectic approach that is best tailored to their individual needs. Marilyn is passionate about helping clients learn to transform their thinking to become their best selves.

I am passionate about working with children and youth, but I also enjoy working with adults and often provide Counseling support to professional staff who are experiencing crisis/and or personal struggles and have experience counseling college aged students. Currently as a School Counselor, Marilyn works using various approaches like RET - (Rational Emotional Behavioral Therapy) and Cognitive Behavioral Approaches (CBT) to help students to change from a “fixed mindset to a “growth mindset” by helping student focus on their thinking and helping them to realize the importance of how their thinking patterns can set them up for success or failure depending on the “mindset” they are utilizing the most.
Some of the most recent training in Public School Marilyn has completed as Trauma Informed Care and Behavioral Threat Assessment through the Texas School Safety Center, Gifted in Talented Program through Region 10 and Mental Health First Aid for Youths.
