Treatment Approaches
Kristi enjoys working with individuals, couples, young adults, and adolescents. She has experience working with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, chronic or terminal illness, sexual and emotional abuse, divorce recovery, blended family issues, infidelity, conflict resolution, life transitions, self-image/identity, marital conflict, premarital counseling as well as working with clergy and their families.
Kristi integrates several theories and treatment approaches into her counseling practice, but mainly operates from a Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused Treatment Approach while providing the listening skills, warmth, and empathy of Person-Centered counseling.
Kristi also has extensive experience in Biblical counseling and will integrate Christian counseling into your session to the degree that you feel most comfortable.
Education and Training
Kristi received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology: Human Services and Counseling from Liberty University in 1991. She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Counseling from Amberton University in 1994. Kristi also holds a Texas teacher certification and has taught multiple grade levels as well as special education focusing on behavioral issues.
Background and Experience
Kristi has a background of ministry and service, having worked for several charitable organizations in the past.
After working in the counseling industry, Kristi was a stay-at-home mom for many years before going back to school to be a certified teacher. After several years of teaching, Kristi returned to the counseling profession and has experience counseling in a clinical and a church setting.
About Me
My husband and I are happily married with a blended family of five children. I enjoy reading, writing, traveling, decorating, thrifting, spending quality time with family and friends, going to our kids’ activities, and sitting on a beach or overlooking the mountains. I love nothing more than to make memories with my children and family.
Personal Statement
I believe that every person was created with a purpose and is wonderfully unique and valuable. As we go through life, we are faced with many struggles, issues, and mindsets that are the result of our choices or situations that arise that are outside of our control but they undermine who were created to be. I love to walk through these issues with my clients and help them find wholeness, freedom and healing in the areas that are causing them pain or sabotaging who they desire to be. I love to see a person be renewed in their heart and mind and learn tools to walk in freedom and wholeness.
