Treatment Approaches

James is wholehearted about helping children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples to bring about the change they want to see in their lives. He treats individuals struggling with anxiety & depression, grief & loss, sexual issues, trauma, self worth issues, behavioral development, relationships and boundaries, life transitions, and spiritual issues. James also provides young adult and couple consults on the topics of sexual issues and marital sexuality psycho education.  James is experienced in working with families from a variety of cultures and backgrounds, having spent 7 years as a student minister in Associate Director and Director roles. James has also had the opportunity to work as a volunteer for the non-profit agency, Dallas Life: a transitional homeless shelter for individuals in Dallas County. James generally adheres to the school of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy; however, he utilizes other approaches such as Person Centered and Existential Therapy as well to ensure appropriate services are provided. James is pleased to provide Christian Counseling services, upon request. James also provides young adult, pre-marital, and marital consults on the topics of single sexuality, male sexuality, and marital sexual intimacy through psycho education.

While at Blinn and A&M he worked closely with young adults transitioning into college life as a leader in the Impact organization. Following graduation, James attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Arts in Counseling. James has received training in Trauma Informed Care and Sexual Psycho Education. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern in the state of Texas, training under Michelle Nietert, LPC-S.
