Counseling Approaches
Carol’s treatment focus includes adolescents and adults of all ages, both men and women. Carol strives to help clients reach their goals through collaborating and building self-esteem. She uses a solution focused approach based on positive thinking and doing more of what works. In addition to Solution Focused, Carol uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) as well as journaling. Through her experience in education and through family members, she is familiar with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
Education and Training
Carol holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Florida State University and is currently finishing her Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University in Garland, Texas. Her focused areas of study include counseling, trauma, addiction, and group counseling.
Background and Experience
Carol has twenty-nine years of fulfilling experience teaching middle school and high school students. She has also worked as a corporate trainer and a college instructor. Carol has a passion for working with adolescents, but also enjoys working with adults of all ages; She also has experience in teaching students emotional regulation. Although Carol is a native Floridian, she settled in the Dallas area after receiving her undergraduate degree and hasn’t ever wanted to leave. She is an active member of a church in Dallas and meets regularly with a community group for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, reading, and visiting friends and family.
Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have always loved helping people. It’s what prompted me to become a counselor. I enjoy listening to others, providing encouragement and support, and helping people find their own solutions to life’s challenges. I believe that people are all trying their best to navigate life in a challenging world. Sometimes, we need a bit of help and counseling can be very restorative. I feel passionate about helping others and doing what I can to assist people in meeting their therapeutic goals. My aim is to help others without being judgmental. I believe that truthfulness with yourself and others is very liberating and leads to healthy relationships and boundaries. I strive to bring glory to God in my daily life by aspiring to the characteristics of Jesus.
