Counseling Approaches

Carol's treatment focus includes adults, young adults, middle school and high school adolescents, and tweens.

After working with tweens and adolescents for 30 years in public education, Carol is more than familiar with students struggling with grades and managing IEPs and 504 accommodations. She has experience in ADHD coaching, depression, anxiety, OCD, and bipolar disorder.
She has worked with AU and AuDHD adolescents in her years in education. For ADHD clients, Carol uses Smart but Scattered strategies and assessments to increase focus and productivity.
Caro  also works with women and men in career and life transitions, betrayal, and trauma, as well as struggles with adult children. She can also help clients struggling with chronic pain.

Carol strives to help clients reach their goals through collaborating and building self-esteem.. Carol uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and journaling. For OCD clients, she uses ERP (exposure and response prevention).

Background and Experience
Carol has been counseling at Community Counseling Associates since March 2025. She has twenty-nine years of fulfilling experience teaching middle school and high school students. She has also worked as a corporate trainer and a college instructor. Carol has a passion for working with adolescents, but also enjoys working with adults of all ages.  Through her experience with education, Carol is familiar with ADHD, OCD, depression, and anxiety. She also has personal family experience in bipolar disorder, chronic illness, and helping adult children navigate life transitions.

Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have always loved helping people. It’s what prompted me to become a counselor. I enjoy listening to others, providing encouragement and support, and helping people find their own solutions to life’s challenges. I believe that people are all trying their best to navigate life in a challenging world. Sometimes, we need a bit of help and counseling can be very restorative. I feel passionate about helping others without judgement and doing what I can to assist people in meeting their therapeutic goals.  I believe that truthfulness with yourself and others is very liberating and leads to healthy relationships and boundaries.

Education and Training
Carol holds a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University in Garland, TX. and a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Florida State University.

Call Carol at 903-207-9451 to schedule an appointment or discuss counseling concerns.
