Brittany operates with an integrative treatment focus. This means that she pulls from different treatment protocols to find what best fits her client. She believes that each person is unique and should be treated that way. She utilizes treatment protocols in the areas of emotion-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, schema therapy, narrative therapy and brief therapy.
Education and Training
Brittany obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, with an emphasis on adolescents who were victims of sexual abuse. Brittany completed her practicum internship at Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County. Brittany received a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas in Human Development, Family Sciences. Brittany is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Liberty University. She is a part of a research team and presents at conferences.
Brittany has completed the coursework to be a certified sex therapist through ABSCT.
Brittany is level II Gottman certified. The Gottman method is a research-based approach to doing couple therapy.
Brittany is PREPARE certified as a form of pre-marital counseling and marital check-in. "PREPARE is a customized couple assessment completed online that identifies a couple's strength and growth areas. It is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling and premarital education. It is also used for marriage counseling, marriage enrichment, and dating couples considering engagement. Based on a couple's assessment results, a trained facilitator provides 4-8 feedback sessions in which the facilitator helps the couple discuss and understand their results as they are taught proven relationship skills. "
Background and Experience
As a counselor for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, Brittany worked with children and adolescents who were victims of sexual abuse as well parents and couples who were affected by the abuse. She counseled children and adolescents at risk for self-harm, suicide, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Many of her clients struggled with low self-worth, shame, and guilt.
Brittany has presented alongside local family practice doctor and an OBGYN sharing the perspective of a sex therapist.
Brittany is an active member at Elevate Life Church in Frisco, TX. Christian Counseling is available upon request.
In her spare time Brittany enjoys the gym, reading, running, sporting events, cooking and spending time with family. She is happily married and the fur-parent of a beagle.
